Old Posts on MXNA?

TJ Downes just told me that my blog is barfing old posts to MXNA for some reason. Not sure whats going on. Perhaps it has something to do with me upgrading my BlogCFC install? Thats the only thing that has changed in the last week. I upgraded it on Sunday night to the latest build. Not sure if thats it or not but I apologize for any inconveniences.

Pardon The Dust... New Site Design (again)

Just a few weeks ago I posted how much I liked being able to change the look and feel of my site using themes in BlogCFC. I had just updated the design with a template I found on Templateworld since I just hadnt had time to create my own.

Well, despite working 70+ hours a week and working on my opensource project Trac_Fu as well as spending time with my family, I managed to whip up a design that I have wanted to do for quite sometime. I have been tweaking the colors of the fonts over the last several days to get them "just right" and with the help of the AWESOME application Kuler, I think I finally have them where I want them.

I will be adding a few more tweaks here and there but mostly I like it... dark and simple... a good bit on the comic book side. Not Superman comic but more like the best Image comics like Spawn and Maxx... you know, the good stuff!

The trees were made from some Photoshop brushes I found on Deviantart. Please let me know if you run into any site errors and I will clean them up asap.

Comments Working Again

Thanks to all of you guys you notified me about the comments not working on the new site design. It seems that when I was creating the new layouts file I forgot to put the javascript function in that launches the comments window.

Thanks again!

New site design...loving BlogCFC

I decided I wanted a look for my site so I started searching the web for some free templates. I just do not have the time to design my own and write the CSS anymore.

I decided on something a little darker this time and for a change, I went with a 3 column layout instead of the usual 2 columns. At first I was concerned about trying to make the design work with BlogCFC, but the way the pods are included made it quite simple.

I will be tweaking the CSS and working out some bugs over the next couple days so if you run across anything glaring, try not to beat me up too bad over it!

Setting Up Technorati

I'm relatively new to blogging so Im going through the learning process of trackbacks, comments, del.icio.us, technorati, gravatars and everything else.

BlogCFC Updated to 5.5

Im a few days behind but it was my birthday this weekend! Didnt spend much time on the computer at all so Im just getting caught up. Ray Camden has updated the best ColdFusion blog tool in the world to version 5.5. If your running on ColdFusion you really should check out BlogCFC.

Ray Camdens SPRY and CF Presentation

I just finished sitting in on the Breeze presenation that Ray Camden gave to the Detroit Users Group on SPRY and ColdFusion. I have to admit, I have always been a little hesitant to mess with AJAX at all. Mainly due to the complexity of some of the implementations that I looked at early on in its release.

I must say that Ray's presentation really showed how simple the SPRY framework is to use. I was actually excited to download it and try it out for myself.

The Breeze presentation was recorded so it should surface on Rays blog within a day or two. Definately worth the hour and a half that it will take to watch it! Ray gives a ton of examples during the presentation and show how he integrated it with ColdFusion in BlogCFC as well.

BlogCFC Theme

Just wanted to take a minute a give credit to Tim Kimberl for the Aqua Styled WordPress theme he created. I have had this Wordpress theme sitting on my harddrive for quite some time and I have no idea how to reach Tim.

All of the styles and images with the exception of my little angry fly image were created by Tim. I tweaked the styles a little to work with BlogCFC but for the most part, its what Tim layed out.

I am going to finish packaging the theme and making a few tweaks to work with my BlogCFC theme engine and then release it here for anyone to use.

Enter The Era Of BlogCFC

I decided that after making a living coding ColdFusion for almost 8 years now, I should be blogging on a CF based blog vs. the WordPress PHP based software that I had been using. WordPress was simple to setup and it was just plain easy. I didnt want to have to deal with 'more' CF stuff than I was already dealing with at work.

But, I started a new job last week with a small company that uses CF extensively in all of its web-based payment products and something about the change has renewed my vigor when it comes to ColdFusion. I admit I was getting stale, bored with it. I had been using Fusebox for over 6 years and was kind of excited to try Model-Glue and some of the new stuff around but I still didnt have the interest to sit here night after night working CF code.

I have been playing with Fusebox 5 alot lately and ColdSpring as well and I am really enjoying working on CF stuff again. So I decided to take the plunge and setup Ray Camdens latest version of BlogCFC. The setup was really quite simple and as you can see, I have strayed quite far from the default look-n-feel by modifying all of the layout files. I am working on a themeing engine now that will make it much easier to create themes for the blog since I like to change my theme quite frequently. If you have a CF host and havent tried BlogCFC, head over to Ray's site and check it out!
